We Get By With A Little Help From Our Friends!
Maybe you want to volunteer but can’t commit to our regular programs. Maybe you are already a literacy mentor and want to learn about ways that you can get more involved in our community. Here’s our list of current tasks that we need support with. If you see something of interest, get in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator Matt Layzell at mlayzell@vancvouerwe.com

Grant Writer
Location: Remote or In-office
Time Commitment: Flexible; approx. 4-10 hours per month

We’re seeking a passionate and persuasive writer to join our team as a Volunteer Grant Writer. This is a great role for someone who wants to develop grant writing skills, gain real-world experience, and contribute to our mission. You’ll help tell our story in compelling ways to a range of funders who can support our impact. One week you might write a 5-page foundationapplication for $10,000, and the next week a short email to a local business requesting an in-kind donation. There are so many ways we seek support.
Food Bank Pick-Ups

We’re looking for a friendly and dependable volunteer(s) to help with our weekly food donation pick-ups from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. You’ll need access to a vehicle, be comfortable lifting 10–20 lbs, and be available on Monday or Tuesday mornings for a pre-scheduled time slot. Each week, you’ll pick up donated food items and deliver them to our space at 877 Hastings, helping make sure the kids in our programs have the snacks they need to stay energized and engaged. This small but mighty task makes a huge impact—and we’d love to have you on board!
